Congratulations to our student-athletes in wrestling and powerlifting who represented Bryan ISD on the state stage! They were recognized at Monday night's Board of Trustees meeting.

Bryan High School recognized wrestlers Edward Huggins, Nadiyah Elizondo, and Nate Surely, who competed at the state tournament. Coach Victor Thomas said wrestling is both a team and individual sport, saying the trio's trip to the state tournament is a testament to their hard work. Edward is a graduating senior, but he said he hopes to see Nadiyah and Nate return to the state tournament next year.

Six powerlifters were recognized at the meeting, representing Bryan High School and Rudder High School. From Bryan High School, two-time state qualifier Hally Gochnour was recognized, along with senior Joseph Incardona. From Rudder High School, Bruce Hendrick, Hunter McGary, Trace Emola, and Kimberly Sanchez Lozano were all recognized. Hunter and Trace both finished in the top 5 of their weight class, and Kimberly earned a silver medal at state!

Congratulations to these student-athletes for their dedication to their sport and schools!
